Adventure in Lanzarote: Enjoy Our Canary Island!

Lanzarote is one of the most multicultural islands in the Canaries. People from 21 Spanish-speaking countries live here, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish every day.

Lanzarote is special for many reasons. As a volcanic island, it rises dramatically from the sea. We have black sand beaches, beautiful forests and magical small villages. It is also the only Canary Island shaped by local artist and architect César Manrique.

Since 1993, Lanzarote has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – a distinction that underlines the island’s ecological value and protects it from mass tourism. Lanzarote is not only a film set and advertising location for international productions, but also an exclusive retreat: even the Spanish president spends his summer here.

The island has also become a hotspot for international sports. Famous are the royal regattas of the Spanish monarchy and the challenging Ironman, one of the toughest in the world. In addition, Lanzarote offers endurance sports such as paragliding, hang gliding and sailing. With Europe’s largest marine reserve and unique underwater museums, the island offers unforgettable natural experiences. With an average annual temperature of 21°C, it is an ideal destination all year round.

The people of Lanzarote, affectionately called “conejeros,” are friendly and excellent hosts.
