Tips to learn languages quickly

In your New Year’s resolutions, amongst the most typical ones of signing up to the gym, quitting smoking, etc … we should always try to find time to learn a language.

Whilst it seems that we are including it among goals that appear to be impossible to achieve, in reality, it is not something that is so difficult

Like everything in life, it’s just a question of thinking about it, building up courage, and getting down to work!

And, to make it a little easier, we have compiled a list of tricks, which can help you to achieve.

1. Memorise 25 words and phrases each day.

If you really stop to think, in your day to day speaking you don’t say lots and lots of different words, but those that you do say are the ones that really matter when it comes to learning a language.

You should think of the ones that you are going to use the most, those which you will really need. Start to create your own vocabulary by memorising them, leaving superfluous ones for later, thus simplifying learning.

2. Read, listen to music and watch movies in the language you are learning.

This is the first step to help practice. Get accustomed to the sounds, the different forms of pronunciation and expressions that are used outside the “technique” of each language.

In the end, what we must learn, is to make ourselves understand the language in our daily lives and one on one, and in this way we will feel more exposed to the real world.

3. Talk with native speakers.

To know if what you have learned has been effective, you have to practice it, and, of course, with someone who knows and can correct you if necessary.

This is why one of the best ways is to talk to native-speakers of the language. This helps you gain confidence and puts you at ease.

4. Study words that look alike in your language and in the language you are learning.

When something is already familiar to us, it is always easier to remember, and the same goes for languages. If there are words that are similar to those we have used all our lives, we will remember them more easily.

So, for this reason, the best way to increase our vocabulary in the new language is to find words that are written and have the same meaning and you’ll see how you’ll remember them much more easily than the rest

Here are some examples in English. On the web you will find many more.

admirable (admirebl) admirable
chocolate (chocalat)  chocolate
material (matirial) material
virus (vairus) virus

5. Make good use of content on the Internet and within mobile applications.

On the Internet there is a lot of useful content that will help you acquire vocabulary, grammar, and anything else you want.

Additionally, there are multiple tools and mobile applications, that you can integrate into your daily routine and they will be of great help to you when learning the language in your free time.

6. Take individual classes.

The benefit given by these types of classes is that they increase learning by a high percentage than any other form of learning.
